When you cross the border from Cambodia into VietNam, the first thing
you notice is how green it is. VietNam is a richer country and so can
afford to irrigate, and it really needs to--it has a population of 75
versus Cambodia with 10 million. After the dusty dry season in
Cambodia our eyes feasted on deep-green well-groomed rice fields. It's
less hot too. You see little figures bent over the fields in the classic
lampshade hats, just like you picture from seeing the movies. It's
beautiful.
