Ecological Building Criteria

If we find a way to fund the community either with donations or through grants, we will not need to create an investment-based council. Otherwise, we hope to find like-minded, like-hearted people to create the community by investing their green energy, who will in return be able to guide how that money is spent. When an investor dies, their share will pass to an elected person. In this way, in one generation, we will move to direct democracy.

Roles in the project:

Councilmember: a partner or elected member that makes decisions in Council.

Member: Any visitor must become a member with a yearly fee of $15.

  • Full Member: a committed member of the community who volunteers 200 dollars or sweat equity credits a year
  • (after a trial period where compatibility with the community is determined). Full Members can visit the land and voice their opinions in Council meetings.
  • Resident: A full member who lives on the land.
  • Sweat Equity Member: a full member who has been approved to earn a homesite through work (due to the critical nature of the member's skills)
  • Associate Member: a member who wishes to become a full member, and is getting to know the community better (trial period of at least 6 months)

Partner: has invested in the project, and is invited to sit on the Council.

  • Full Partner: has invested at least 200,000 dollars in the project and has a veto vote.

Expert: has valuable skills or knowledge to contribute, but possibly limited time, who advises the project.

Buy or earn a share in the land and project, at pioneer prices:

  • 50,000 dollars/sweat equity credits for a renewable, transferable 99-year-lease on a yurtsite (or timeshare), plus access to the community center and facilities, land, and all shared property.
  • 100,000 dollars/sweat equity credits for a building site and share of ownership in the land, as well as community facilities as above. (after becoming a full member of the community)
  • 200,000 dollars for a share of ownership with a veto vote (can block proposals)
